@QasimRashid The part that gets me is SVB referring to their board members as 1 Black and 1 LGBTQ+. Not even bothering to use a word like “person” or “members”. Just a number of the specific quality they consider the defining characteristic. The dehumanizing is obscene.

OMG. Just saw this week’s Lask Week Tonight where they try to tackle the insanity that is rapid AI adoption (ChatGPT) etc..without doing a dive into the different types of AI (LM vs NN etc..) & confusing those with no understanding at all of it while still emphasizing the dangers & potential impacts (as well as the reality of unknown consequences) & generally raising awareness, while still being funny & (afaict) not going non-factual. Actually surprisingly good science journalism(!?). Recommend?

Just so you know, ChatGPT is aware of furry culture, yiffing, and apologized to me for not mentioning Omaha Cat Dancer as seminal work within the genre, while including Zootopia.
It also knows about vore and made a very succinct description while saying it wasn’t really discussed much in public forums.

I really want to know who chose the data sources they trained this thing on. Lol.

@voynich @Mrfunkedude A lot of cities and towns maintain websites where local orgs post volunteer opportunities. Just put your city name and the word volunteer I to the search engine of your choice and you can probably find a bunch. You can also check with your local United Way for a list of programs and orgs they support and use that to see what’s out there. A lot of volunteer work is boring as shit, but helping out with it frees up program staff to deliver services.

Ok, I’m behind the times here, but I keep hearing rave reviews about the TV adaptation of The Last Of Us. My initial reaction was to ignore it because I assumed it was primarily an extension of a video game I had no familiarity with, so..not for me. But now I’m reconsidering and wondering how many folks have enjoyed it with zero knowledge of the game. Please let me know.

@IanAMartin @Mrfunkedude If you’re at all queer, I urge you to check out the Malecon at Avenue 23 after dark. It’s fabulous. Also, bring a few dozen condoms to share around. The blockade makes them pricey and hard to get there, and the folks there appreciate getting some quality western ones. Even the cheap brands. :)

Got the chance to watch the new LOSH/Supergirl movie in the DCAU, & I rather liked it. It feels like it’s trying to tie together the LOSH we saw in JL v FF with the LOSH as shown in the old JLU series. They’re just ignoring the TV series entirely, which is a shame, as I liked it, but I can’t fault their choice entirely. At least there’s Bouncing Boy! There’s some spoilers in this ⬇️review but it covers it well.

I just learned that what I’ve always thought of as “craft paper” because it’s used for crafting (as many kids learn to use it) is in fact “kraft paper” so named because it is the resulting paper from the “Kraft” paper pulp process, which produces a stronger product than other methods.
Butcher’s paper, paper bags, & so forth, all kraft paper.

Leading me inexorably to some questions regarding the production of Kraft Dinner…?

@Mrfunkedude @pburke46 Gotcha. It seemed surprisingly uncharacteristic. Me, I’ve found over the years that I have a lot more fun when I try & take an interest or participate in my partners’ & friends’ ass’t passions. I either learn something I actually enjoy, or confirm my pre-existing impression that it’s “not my cup of tea”. Juggling was cool & continued, fire spinning is wonderful, fire breathing was short-lived (see my avatar for why) & knitting is a mysterious and inaccessible thing to me
