"It's your computer, nobody elses"
On that note, have you considered adding a guide for assembling your own laptop batteries?
Would also be interesting to see Libreboot ported to various small form factor desktops, especially the ones that are energy-efficient enough to be converted into DIY laptops (thin clients, high-end Chromeboxes, industrial/embedded machines).
Also massive thanks for re-arranging the list of supported devices (sorting by hardware generations and installation difficulty): frankly surprised that you didn't announce it on here. -

What if America invented GNOME but not obese?
(I'd be okay with their boneheaded design decisions if their stack was optimized for 640x480 screens, 1990s CPUs and 1bit monochrome graphics)
(speaking as an XFCE user) -

no idea about the latter two, but I'd add the Trackmania series to the list.
(everything before the Forever games uses hideous StarForce DRM, but unlike SuperTuxKart it ships a level editor) -

running Win32 games by installing Windows 95 on some Dosbox fork, because many of the ones I like are old enough that they don't need 3D acceleration :P -

Might be useful if you're running OpenBSD on a machine that doesn't have enough resources to run a suitable virtual machines (OpenBSD seems to be vaguely popular in the netbook and vintage computer scenes). -

* port Wine to OpenBSD
(apparently the OS is so strict in it's design that Wine has to be overhauled to work) -

Whenever I hear about compilers it's always something grody like
"this project you rely on every day? it takes a week to build and consumes 3 DVDs worth of disk space."
or
"developer forgot to list an important dependency"
Interpreted languages may have done more to help the Four Freedoms than the FSF ever could.
- adblockers making commercial webpages less of a hellscape
- ZDoom becoming the go-to Doom port for modders because it re-implemented the game as a pile of scripts
- over 3 millon videogames run Lua (and NetBSD uses it to prototype device drivers)
- Powermacs and RISC workstations getting booted with Forth
I know it's just passing the buck to someone else but still. -

I remember @libreleah working on a fork of XLibre during the first few weeks of the project: mostly to clean up the description or something.
Never used any strain of XLibre because the X11 versions of KDE and XFCE work well enough on the current Xorg (KDE for Wayland runs kinda poorly on my intel HD 4000 and UHD 620 laptops). -

How did the blogpost go?
Guess you must've had a busy month.
(would kinda suck if you published it on april 1st) -

How feasible would it be to port Wine to MS-DOS?
DOS already has a well-known port of the GNU tools (DJGPP), and I'd appreciate the ability to run Windows 95 (and later) software on such an austere operating system.
Bonus points if it's possible to get better VESA performance than the official Basic Display Adapter drivers.
I'm not familiar with C (or derivatives), but there are probably worse places for me to start.

Already knew of the doslinux project.
If it has graphics support (framebuffer, x11, wayland, secret fourth thing) I guess I'm golden.
Chainloading into a small hand-crafted Gentoo/TinyCore system through loadlin is also an option, if I'm desperate for results and want to learn something that can be applied to the modern world. -

Any crashier than Windows 9x?
Guess I'll just transplant some Debian install and see how things go.
The github description was pretty vague, so thanks for explaining how it actually works. -

Good to know.
Always had a feeling that porting Re-Volt (RVGL) and Serious Sam to DOS would be a better excursion.
next up: diving into the coreboot weeds just to bring DOS back to the BIOS chip ( @libreleah better watch out ) -

Seamonkey has an LCARS theme
would probably be using it right now if I was a dark mode guy
