    @amerika @h4890 @Cosmic @FourOh-LLC @cjd @verita84 @toiletpaper Our current civil conflict is mostly the clash between freedom vs equality. And by current I mean roughly since we got rid of feudalism.

    I'm on the side of personal freedom. Individuals should be able to pursue their interests, to the extent of their talents, without interference from the mob. That will naturally lead to unequal outcomes but people are not inherently equal in interests and abilities anyway.

    Much suffering has come from the idea of equality, especially in the 20th century where we piled up the corpses by the millions in the name of equality.

    I'm all for equality of opportunity, which is another way of saying, get the state out of the way and end discrimination based on innate features (race, gender, etc). But equality of outcome is a deathtrap.

    I 100% agree that it's the inept that love collectivist ideology because they're afraid to have to stand on their own two feet. It's the ideology of the weak. They turned opression into virtue. It's a sick inversion of the mortality of freedom, which values strength and competence and resilience.

    I see it as basically the social divide that our culture is battling. The Left have a slave-peasant mentality, and want to impose it on everyone, and we want to be left alone. Unfortunately, we've allowed them to control education and media, which are powerful social institutions, so we sleep walked into our current problems.

    @ZeroSum06 @MSP_SMIMSA The less tax we have to pay, the better. People's money belongs in their own pockets. Rationally, there is some need for tax for infrastructure and services which private companies and competition cannot supply, like national defence and local roads, but tax should be kept to a minimum. I own a small business and I'm sick of 50% plus of my income going in tax. It's a racket. Especially when that money is wasted on handouts for losers and social engineering.
