I recently moved from Boston to Portland, I am making new friends at 65.

I can see when people get to know me well enough that they understand me to be an activist, for many that's enough to have them not want to be closer, they are afraid.

It feels awful but it also beautifully outlines what I actually need to do, I need to gain their support, I need to gain access before I can "do" anything.

Guess what? It's a ton of work!

@JessTheUnstill yes! Employers used to bend over backwards to insist that positions had been eliminated and layoffs were *not* based on performance because they were worried about being sued for circumventing reasonable performance management practice.
