There is some irony at listening to Starmer urging an election to "Let the people decide", the same Starmer who does not recognise Scotland's right to have a referendum to "Let the people decide". Yes, indeed, we had one in 2014 but materially, the UK has changed. We have elections every five years yet Scotland is continually denied democracy by, in effect, a foreign country, England. Is the union voluntary, yes it is, how then does Scotland leave ?

@goatsarah I spend a lot of time outside the UK every year and notice this every time I come back.....

@goatsarah And, furthermore, though I live in Scotland which is way better than the situation in England, due to our Holyrood parliament, I am spending more time outside of the UK, indeed, it may be time to consider moving permanently.

So, waking up to the news that Sunak could be gone after the council elections and the predicted Tory rout....Spring election anyone ?

@fkamiah17 Aye, entirely plausible, however, if Sunak had a spine, he'd go to the country now, stick it to the long knives plotting behind his back, take away their gravy train and personally, retain a "smidgeon" of decency.
