With only being able to make small, sporadic donations I was thinking an organisation might be able to use economies of scale to do more with it - but not if they can’t actually deliver the aid.

I can’t make a big difference for individual families, sadly, but at least I can know they’re actually getting the donation.

I have very little money to donate, unfortunately, and I’d like to donate it to organisations with the best chance of actually getting help to the people who need it, to maximise the benefit.

I personally have no truck with the sea - I vehemently dislike being in it or on it & you can forget about under it. I’m not even much enthused about being beside it. Nonetheless I find the idea of it - mysterious, largely unexplored and teeming with weird life - very pleasing, oddly reassuring, so this news makes me smile.

Tried & failed to convert my Kindle books to ePub via Calibre (something to with my kindle books being a newer format or some such🤷🏻♀️).

I’m still inclined to buy a non-kindle e-reader when my current Kindle dies, although losing my 700 strong library of books will pain me 😩.

Currently I’m thinking of getting the Kobo app for my tablet & making any new ebook purchases on there going forward, with a view to buying a Kobo when my kindle dies.

Is there any reason that’s a bad call?

I do love The Interwebs but it is a fertile breeding ground for 2 of my pet peeves in typical human behaviour. Those being not reading things before responding to /acting on them and being incapable of just not saying anything if they have nothing helpful to say.

Me: “Please can anyone suggest a solution to Problem. I have already tried A, B and C without success.

Inevitable reply: “Oh that’ll be because you need to A. Just A and that will definitely fix it”

This is all making me realise that I’ve never actually sat down and thought about what I like/don’t like about different knitted up fabrics against my skin (beyond scratchy = no).

I guess this is what comes of not realising I was autistic until my late 40s & being high masking - I never made space for my sensory needs, even in my own head.

All excellent points, very useful to consider. I should probably have mentioned in my post that I’m housebound so I don’t have any opportunity to touch yarn before buying. I guess I’m just trying to get a feel for what other people’s experiences have been with different types of yarn with a view to narrowing my options.

I’ve been knitting a long time but I mostly make for gifts and jumpers for myself (ie that I wear over something else to avoid possible sensory horror)

If you’re #ActuallyAutistic (or otherwise experience #SensorySensitivity ) and also enjoy #knitting , I would love to hear your recommendations for the most touch friendly yarn you can think of.

I’m going to be knitting something that’s going to be in contact with my skin for long periods of time, so I’m looking for the least aggravating option possible. It doesn’t necessarily need to be cheap (it’s only for a hat so I won’t need to buy a lot of it) strokability is the key factor.

FAO people who watch #CitiesSkylines2 content. Can anyone recommend any creators who make videos of #CS2 gameplay with a focus on optimised play?

I can find plenty focused on ‘realistic’ city building and/or aesthetics & detailing but I never see any about optimised gameplay.

I don’t know if I’m just falling victim to algorithms or if the content just isn’t out there. Every creator I try seems very keen to stress that they’re not focused on optimisation, like that would be terrible.

I would always rather be told, always.

Someone telling me I’m not their cup of tea or I’m not a priority in their life or that I’ve behaved in a way they can’t tolerate might be briefly hurtful but I can understand & accept it.

Ghosting is cowardly, selfish & cruel - it gives no chance for me to have closure or find acceptance. The ghoster saves themself the brief discomfort of an awkward conversation at the cost of leaving me wondering what I did for months
