@goldgust@soph_sol Technically yes ... Hmm. I may not be able to communicate this well, but I'll try.
Some of my socks are more comfortable to wear with shoes than others.
If I'm on my feet a lot, and the stitch pattern on the sole is a certain texture, then the soles of my feet may feel ... icky?? less nice?? It's a sensory thing and I'm sure it varies wildly from person to person. But generally speaking, smooth texture & soft-feeling yarn is nicer on soles.
If the fit is loose, then the socks might look baggy or wrinkled where they meet with the shoes.
If the fit is too tight, then you probably won't want to wear them anyway, regardless of shoes.
Anyway I do not mean to sound discouraging at all! I think it's really fun to experiment and try stuff and be open to whatever outcome. I'm really looking forward to seeing your progress and your results. 😊
@goldgust@soph_sol maybe try for something more like a slipper than a sock??
I love to make socks but find that they need to be more well-fitted than you might expect.
Machine-made socks are a lot more forgiving in terms of stretching to fit different foot sizes and being comfortable to wear with shoes.
Slippers and slipper-socks are comfy and nice to wear around the house, and you don't have to worry much about a good fit or having them play nicely with shoes
Maybe I should actually join the Vic Socialists. Probably a better option than waiting around for someone else to do stuff and then being sad that they haven't done it.
@lowrah I'm pretty sure that posts boosted from gaypirates will no longer be available after gaypirates closes.
If you would like an archive of the posts, you might have to find another way to save the content??
I don't know of any easy way to do that, however. The archive downloader tools I know about will only download your *own* posts, I think. But I may be wrong about that.
