I keep seeing #Bosco popping up and she looks so fabulous, so I decided to buy a month's worth of access to a streaming service to watch her on RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars season 10.

During her lipsync with #IreneTheAlien, I was not tremendously into Bosco's twirling white cape thingy, it went on too long and wasn't interesting enough. But there was clearly a reveal going to happen, and I just hoped it was a good one.

@goldgust yes! I'm not reccing a fic to the writer -- I'm reccing it to other potential readers. The audiences for recs and comments are different.

If I start thinking of the writer as another potential audience for the rec, it would probably change the way that I write recs.

I still have at least 150 fics flagged as recs on AO3 that I haven't actually posted to the fediverse yet. I don't want to make it any harder for myself to write up and post those recs!

@goldgust oh I also always hashtag the author's name when I post a rec, just in case they somehow find us on the fediverse (or are already here) and they look up their hashtag.

But that's not much use for authors who aren't on the fediverse in the first place.

@goldgust I try to comment as well as bookmark, but it depends on my level of spoons. If I want to rec, and I don't have many spoons, I just do the rec.

I guess I'm more nervous about reccing something in a way that the author doesn't like?? what if I don't get what they were going for, and I misrepresent their intent?

I don't knowwww, these are silly reservations! I want to get over them. Perhaps I can get over them??

but I don't know if authors ever see those links.

This seems like a compromise where I'm not trying to hide the rec, but not trying to be pushy about it either.

Maybe I should actually leave a comment with a link to the rec? Or just a comment saying that I recced it?? I don't knowwwww, argh.

You could probably apply a lot of the same ideas to learning Japanese. Except you'd have to add in time for learning to read kanji (much more time-consuming than learning hangul), which would probably have to bump something else out.

👑 Got crown replacement prep done at the dentist yesterday, didn't need anaesthetic, and my flare earplugs worked a treat for reducing my stress about drilling noises.

📖 Found a good use for the Stray Kids diary that I got with the Seasons Greetings 2025 pack: I've started actually using it as a diary, writing about my day, in Korean. Just a few sentences each day.

@book I have similar earplugs (not custom though) and that's what I was thinking of. There are some that are supposed to be especially good for concerts, like Loop Experience.
