@JillsJoy I.N's rings aren't very visible, but one of those rings is a rosary ring that he always wears (not chrome hearts). The other I can't see enough of.

@pinkflowers there is always more material than what any of us can collect and organise!

I want to let go of the illusion that I can ever *complete* information-gathering, and be okay with creating fanworks anyway.

I know it's possible! Other people do it all the time!

@TheOtherDibbler do you find that the process still feels worthwhile, even if there isn't yet the end product that you had intended to create?

I'm starting to think about the concept of *process* knitting versus *product* knitting. Some knitters mostly knit because they want the finished items. Others mostly want to experience the process of knitting, and aren't as attached to the finished products.

I'm very much a process knitter. I like it when people ask me to knit things for them. I can enjoy the process of knitting and then release the items to new owners when done.

Maybe that's similar to how I engage with other special interests?? I am more focused on the process than the product.

Right now I feel anxious that there aren't *any* finished products, in terms of what I'd originally envisaged.

But maybe the process can be enjoyable and worthwhile anyway, even if there's never an obvious finished product??

@Erot sometimes it feels like collecting and organising the information is the end product itself, rather than creating something new from the information.

It's part of why I do so much of this in public, on the fediverse.

It's mostly for my own reference.

But part of me hopes that some of it might be interesting or useful to someone else, even if it's only a tiny bit.

I still don't comment as much as I think I should. But when I feel capable of commenting on fics, this script definitely makes it easier for me.

Btw I didn't come up with the idea or most of the script. I just shared my modification of the script that was originally written by ScriptMouse.

They haven't touched their script in 5 years, and I don't know if they'll come back to it. 😟

I hope that they don't mind that I've shared my modification of it, but I don't know for sure.
