@mcalel @NeonPurpleStar what do you mean "go back" to "where you could"? I can and almost daily do download whatever program I want directly from their site. Emulators, music players, movie players, what have you.

There is absolutely zilch, zinch, nada, niente, zero stopping you from downloading any piece of software from their site on your pc on windows or Linux. So... we're still there right? Nothing to go back too.

People chosing not too or not knowing doesn't mean you can't like it was on

But you can. And it is only easier then ever before with the high download speeds.

Now, I like platforms if convenient like the steam store or epic (where I never payed but have like 200 free games, literally I only get the weekly and holiday month freebies and now have a huge library there of great games 😂).

But I'm happy I can sideload or on game pc download myself.

@SuperDicq @eblu Simple: misaki_cosplay_trip is the AMAZING cosplayer with her dance who performed at animecon and DCC. Now, she is on insta (and threads) and threads.net is of course federated with mastodon.social. But god-f-damnit, not her account.

I can search for threads.net users and find a shitload of them, I can follow Mark f**cking Zuckerberg on here, but not here.

@asteroid @raccoon they have the computational power slightly above a potato, and will never run x86 software ever except some dosbox for very light games like commander keen.

They do however come with ports of games like doom, quake, cave story, and more.

And run indeed psx, snes etc full speed (this one and my new one at least) including Tekken 3 and such. Due to great optimization.

I have even seen people say some n64, PSP and ds games run good too, so with other firmware project diva

This is the new anbernic handheld, I myself have the RG35XX, which is pretty much the same except it looks like a gameboy color, transparent purple etc xD

They run on Linux on some single to quad core ranging arm soc, and cost between 30 (like my previous v90, their last Gameboy sp style one that ran some but not most psx games full speed already for 30 bucks on a single 900 MHz core and no fpu... I guess the psx didn't have one either 😂) and 60.

@SuperDicq This is of course true, though maybe not for all other vtubers. Difference being these work for a company - obviously indie ones don´t have to be fake.

I mean by that - take someone like catboy Fisky, he is indie, he likes the things he talks about IRL, so it isnt really a persona - more that the vtuber model allows him to express himself and do things that are otherwise obviously impossible.

@SuperDicq It was, yes, just like how weeb was invented as a derogatory term 20 years ago on the sewer/4chan and now 99% uses it happily and the dance night is called "club weeb".

These days, simp also is used for massive fans, like I have a discord server in which someone is called "Hua Cheng Simp". XD

Most fandoms in my experience are filled with crazy people but in a fun way XD like the kind you see at a con xD
