    The best doorknobs I have ever "handled" are at the #gevangenismuseum in #veenhuizen in the #netherlands . These handles look and feel like the handle of an expensive knife. They installed them all over the building, and they are a joy to use. Obviously they are not knobs as such. But indeed why, oh why, would anyone choose a knob instead of a perfectly normal handle? What knobhead would do that?

    "I'm not a _[cocaine]_ user, but from what I can see, it offers those who do use them a feeling of immense power and productivity. That definitely has parallels with the highs produced by some _[high adrenaline physical activities]_: "Using this, I feel like I can do anything".

    The trail of destruction is similar too."

    Yes, that substitution does work.

    ```apt install libreoffice-gtk3```
    That "fixes" it, so thank you for the suggestion, but still I must ask: why then does it look so crappy *by default*?
    It seems like a plausible desktop UI design from more than 25 years ago, so my guess is literally no one has touched those defaults since the late 1990s.
    Thank you for asking! I run Ubuntu (blame them?), currently with a MATE desktop. But I've seen the same with KDE Plasma, XFCE, and so on. It's always the same. I might post a screenshot when I get back home to my laptop but I am unsure if that would help.
    Also, it's not at all about some icon theme, it's that the icons are not appropriate for the UI (too *small*) and more importantly that the UI text and the document text typeface are too *small*.
    Will this version not look like it's ignoring basic UI preferences or will I still need to squint to navigate the glaring non-dark-mode interface with its tiny icons and tiny pixellated typeface?
    What is this "window" you speak of? I have been using a "fullscreen UI" for more than two decades with no windows/window decorations to resize, and no need to, until you mentioned it just now. Is "Windows 11" any good for adjusting line width? (I hear they update it very often, so it might be a bit of a moving target, so to speak.)
    These "issues" are all phrased as if there is a person behind all that: behaviour, planning, reasoning, and so on, are no predicates you should seriously ascribe to a word repetition averaging algorithm.
    Even if it stays up there long enough to "capture" the lightning before its battery runs out, the event will completely fry it.
    Why not just build a tower on a likely spot in its stead, with proper "grounding"?
    (And even then, why do it at all? How efficient is the conversion to a manageable voltage?)
    I avoided going to the USA ever since I learned about Guantanamo Bay. No particular reason, personally. I might have been fired for refusing to go there at some point about six years ago.
    Perhaps it matters in what country you live for you to consider whether to provide a real telephone number.
