@hellomiakoda @halcy It appears to be a cooking sleeve for a hot dog to put on top of the heated rocks of a sauna in order to make a snack while dry-heating yourself.

@geillescas @hellomiakoda This. NFS is pretty bare bones. Usually if it’s not working it’s a network problem. Or maybe that you didn’t restart the daemon after config changes. Either way, nmap is the clue.

@hellomiakoda The word I found that made sense was disaffirming. Denying someone’s truth with “encouragement” makes them feel angry, lied to, and alone. It sucks.

@hellomiakoda I thought I saw an oleo coating…but you couldn’t have it and the hydrophobic one. Fingerprints are less bad than fogging to me.

@hellomiakoda @CynAq The word “passing” has trans meaning.

But I disagree. I used to play an online game that would sensor “grape”. So I believe it is the word fragment that got flagged.

I made some very funny posts on that game riffing on the terrors of grape…but nobody understood them because it was just *****.

@CynAq @hellomiakoda It is nutz. Once you accept the premise of “I need to write code to prevent 12 year old from using curse words at each other and freaking out their parents”, a cascade of bad solutions fall out.

@hellomiakoda If you have an MTA set up cron should be delivering errors and scrip output via email.

If you don’t, I’d think that the information should be in /var/spool/mail and you can use less or pine or something to scan it.

@hellomiakoda I have a foldable scanner that is nothing but a sheet feeder. It still jams more than I’d like but is more reliable than what I ever had before and it was cheaper than a bed scanner with a sheet feeder or a crap printer that won’t scan without ink.

Nearly as good as is this box with a cutout to hold a phone and just putting a stack of paper in it, pushing the shutter button, and then pulling a paper. Tedious but it never jams.

@hellomiakoda @kkarhan @ubuntu I’m still wrapping my head around flatpak, and the fact that there is technical crap that I haven’t learned bugs me, but in most cases I’ve found that the annoyances (like your keyboard thing) can be resolved with permissions management with a tool like Flatseal). Is there an equivalent for lin-phone? I like app isolation and security / blast radius protections. Seems like it could be easier to comprehend and better presented, though.

@hellomiakoda I got mad when they broke push notifications for my email because I didn’t use android. Sad when you get to the point where you’d rather do business with Microsoft. Fortunately that ends up being a temporary condition as well.

@hellomiakoda I’m a recovering Apple fan, and the tech companies are all failing us now, but seriously I never understood anyone using Google’s ecosystem because they “don’t trust Apple”. Apples interest and mine have diverged and Apple wants me to hand them more $, but Google has been trying to cheat its users and customers for 15-20 years.

@hellomiakoda the nice thing about wireguard is that it *should* be in your kernel (unless that phone OS has compiled it out). Other VPNs do suck up battery, but usually TS is pretty light.

@hellomiakoda It has some overhead, but unless something extra weird is going on it shouldn’t be worse than using https. Wireguard/Tailscale _might_ need to reestablish a TCP connection if you change networks…but I’d bet in a lot of cases it would transition between network routes and keep the connection open. I’d be curious what result you get if you SSH into your phone and turn on and off the cell/wifi while tailing a file.
