   If i wasn't using FDE, I'd be able to remotely reboot my phone---- Oh my fucking god, I just realized that since rebooting relocks the encryption, I could remotely relock my encryption with this if my phone leaves my possession! I just need to figure out how to set it up to let me in when it's on mobile date, and then I just need to connect to it before it leaves signal! OMFG!!! This is AMAZING!

     There MUST be a way to get it to start/restart tailscale whenever it's on a network that isn't my lan!

     @joshrivers I've heard it drains battery on Linux phone. I have no idea by how much. But... will tailscale understand switching from one network to another? Not just different networks, but entirely different networking components? (wifi vs mobile data)

     @hellomiakoda not just leave TS on all the time? It’s supposed to be very efficient about preferring local routes if available.

     @joshrivers I'll see how bad it is leaving TS going. I know the specs on this phone are tighter than I'd prefer... Hopefully that's less of a problem in updates to the OS. I was running Kotogram, a Telegram fork, but went back to plain Telegram because Koto was using 500mb of RAM, and the plain one used under 300

     @hellomiakoda It has some overhead, but unless something extra weird is going on it shouldn’t be worse than using https. Wireguard/Tailscale _might_ need to reestablish a TCP connection if you change networks…but I’d bet in a lot of cases it would transition between network routes and keep the connection open. I’d be curious what result you get if you SSH into your phone and turn on and off the cell/wifi while tailing a file.

     @joshrivers I love tailscale for being the easiest VPN solution I've ever attempted to use. I remember in my Windows days, and even my early Linux days, attempting to set up... I can't remember the type of VPN. I really wanted to use that kind because it was in the network manager options on both OSes. This was before I was comfortable in the terminal. Part of me does still wish it was in that menu, as I just like the idea of all my connections in the menu, but I'm comfy using CLI to start TS

     @hellomiakoda the nice thing about wireguard is that it *should* be in your kernel (unless that phone OS has compiled it out). Other VPNs do suck up battery, but usually TS is pretty light.
