@chris you put into words so much of what I've been feeling over the past month. You describes so many things, even in your journey with #WordPress ,that mirror some of my own. I have been so thankful to have gotten to know you through the community, and getting to meet in person at WCUS 2019. I know my own final message to WordPress will be coming before too long.

Thank you so much for everything you have done for the community, and the impact you've had on the people of the community!

@shawnhooper My personal feelings about ACF aside, what this says is that no one should be building any sort of business on WordPress. If you piss Matt off he is going to use all of his resources to put you out of business.

I can't wait to be fully out of the WordPress world and have left all of this garbage behind. This is not the WordPress I fell in love with 20 years ago.

Maybe it looks like I'm taking the scorched earth route but I am going to just have my plugins removed from WP.org. I'm not handing them off to anyone, well one will live on in a very different capacity. I am also going to get my data and have my WP.org profile deleted as well as my WordCamp presentations from WP.tv. At this point I just don't actually want to publicly be associated with #WordPress anymore.

@kraft wait, what! I thought WP Engine was the maintainer of WPGraphQL? 🤯

@kraft wow, this just gets crazier. I mean if WP Engine was reducing time towards WPGraphQL that isn't good. The fact that it is now under the control of Automattic I'm not really sure I'm comfortable with that. 😞

I can't believe how disrespectful Matt Mullenweg is when people are trying to ask questions during the Q&A. Immediately, defending himself and not letting people talk and ask their questions. What a way to completely kill the entire week of #WCUS24 .

I'd like to know, is #Google giving 5% back to #WordPress let me see the numbers.

I'm feeling so done with WordPress and how Matt Mullenweg s destroying the community.

Matt claims that Automattic has one had tied behind their back. However, he is the one making that decision, and he is controlling WordPress for his own benefit.

At this point after painfully listening to the #WCUS24 Q&A I just don't think I can be involved with #WordPress anymore. I just don't know how I can continue to promote WordPress when someone like Matt Mullenweg continues to tear the community down.

@evan I run my own single-user instance. I would say it could have been worth having "Run my own instance" as it's own choice. 😉

@heathenstorm can you provide here what you are now using? I'll be honest that my testing was just based on some sample requests I had from logs, which were primarily just from Mastodon. I never looked at ActivityPub specs to see what all the possible variants there are allowed to be.

@heathenstorm where is the regex in the ActivityPub plugin that your are referring to? I just tried a GitHub code search and wasn't very successful tracking it down. I'm on my phone so code review/navigation is limited for me right now.

@heathenstorm I just reviewed what I have and confirmed that I don't in fact have any checks for start and end of content. That's ringing a bell that I do believe I ran into issues if I did try that. So technically my regex is still compatible with multiple types in the request. I think the only potential issue is if those types actually vary then the cached versions could still be wrong. I'm wondering if I need to consider that. I was attempting to not blow up the cache.

@heathenstorm @pfefferle also, if this is with the latest version of the plugin then it would be confirmed that the recent changes of adding the Vary: Accept header wasn't actually a complete fix.

@heathenstorm ah, OK, that is good to know. I'm planning on submitting a request for code changes to the LiteSpeed Cache plugin to support ActivityPub and so I'll update my rewrite rule to be case insensitive.

@heathenstorm wait the #ActivityPub plugin is incorrectly using `JSON` in all uppercase? I'm going to have to fix my rewrite to account for this, even though I think this should be corrected in the plugin.

@neonbubble yes, this is exactly why I have concerns when I see people talking about wanting the entire #Fediverse to block an entire platform. What's more is that I think many people have a false understanding of what the Fediverse is, how it fundamentally works, and what they should expect for privacy.

So while one key piece of the #Fediverse is that entire instances can be blocked as a form of moderation, and keeping things safe for people. I think it should be clearly stated to newcomers to any instance if entire platforms such as #Meta / #Tumblr / #Medium / #WordPress.com / #Bluesky (through a bridge) are being blocked.

If someone wants to have a federated identity and follow family/friends on Meta then they are SOL if an instance completely blocks the entire platform. #fediblock
