My niece has #detention for running out of a class in #school, and her mum is apparently not happy. Because I'm sure she never got detention at school.

I had loads of detentions. My favourite one was the last day of term one year when I and a couple of other boys who'd not turned up for the end-of-year play were given detention after school by the English teacher.

A few classes later, the whole class was given detention by the French teacher.

We raised our hands.

Started looking into instructions for installing Linux on an old laptop gathering dust in our spare room before catching myself. Whoa there, boy! Steady on! You've only been on Mastodon for three years. Let's not rush into this whole Linux cult thing.

Images all look AI garbage. Text all looks AI garbage.

Accounts "chatting" to each other. Highly suspect.

Ah, it's finally happened. #YouTube now prompts me to tell me that ad blockers aren't allowed. It's a small thing but I always said that if they ever did this then I'd delete all the travel videos I've uploaded over the years and that's what I've now started doing.

If you haven't seen the trailer for the James Gunn version of Superman coming out next year then the trailer you want to see is this one which has all the same visuals but has replaced the music used in it with that from the original John Williams score as arranged by John Ottman for Superman Returns. It's simply better.

I grabbed my 1995 edition of William Gibson's Neuromancer off the shelf today; stiff yellow pages and mustiness that suggested a last reading back in around 2000.

There's always a danger when you re-read something you last read a long time ago that it won't be as good as you remembered. I wondered how dated it would all feel. It doesn't, though. It's incredible writing. So descriptive, so atmospheric. The world-building is suffocatingly intense.

We're law-abiding people when it suits us and there's an old anniversary law that states you must drink something bubbly on your anniversary. So we are.

It's still early in the season and anything could happen but I am enjoying this Commanders team's improvement and results.

Just relocated a couple of future moths from the raspberries. I was quite taken with the horned beast which appears to be a rusty tussock moth, while the other one is a ruby tiger.

We're #soap people. Put us in water and we foam up. No, wait, I mean that we use actual soap rather than that liquid stuff, and we always pick up soap when we #travel which, being something we do a lot, means we have a lot of soap. We have a filled cake bowl of soap and this is our overflow bowl from the shelf given over to soap in the bathroom cabinet. We're currently using an Icelandic soap made with volcanic ash. Feels wonderful, smells terrible. Anyway, that's it for today's soap news.

For me, the industrial flavour, distortion, noise, and extra energy from the 1000 Homo DJs version of Black Sabbath's Supernaut is what makes it better than the original.
