My niece has #detention for running out of a class in #school, and her mum is apparently not happy. Because I'm sure she never got detention at school.

I had loads of detentions. My favourite one was the last day of term one year when I and a couple of other boys who'd not turned up for the end-of-year play were given detention after school by the English teacher.

A few classes later, the whole class was given detention by the French teacher.

We raised our hands.

Ah, it's finally happened. #YouTube now prompts me to tell me that ad blockers aren't allowed. It's a small thing but I always said that if they ever did this then I'd delete all the travel videos I've uploaded over the years and that's what I've now started doing.

If you haven't seen the trailer for the James Gunn version of Superman coming out next year then the trailer you want to see is this one which has all the same visuals but has replaced the music used in it with that from the original John Williams score as arranged by John Ottman for Superman Returns. It's simply better.

I grabbed my 1995 edition of William Gibson's Neuromancer off the shelf today; stiff yellow pages and mustiness that suggested a last reading back in around 2000.

There's always a danger when you re-read something you last read a long time ago that it won't be as good as you remembered. I wondered how dated it would all feel. It doesn't, though. It's incredible writing. So descriptive, so atmospheric. The world-building is suffocatingly intense.
