Justine SmithiesOh good God! Won't someone just create a 100% Linux / BSD compatible mobile phone where everything just works ? You'd think in 2025 this would be possible but alas it's not even close. Fairphone are doing an amazing job but each time it's announced they never seem to make it to fully working. Don't get me wrong I'm not dissing the hard work of all those amazing devs that are helping to make this a possibility, I'm mearly frustrated that it's not quite 100% possible. I'd love to abandon Android but here we are still tied to Android or Apple.

Justine Smithies#FreeBSD Family I require a little help if possible please ? I have installed a new PCIe Gen4 NVMe M2 1Tb in my Dell Optiplex 3080 Tower i5-10500 along with 32Gb ram. The BIOS sees both and I have secure boot turned off. But when I boot the FreeBSD installer it only ever sees the USB memory stick. Yet I can see the nvme in dev. I've tried several times but no joy. So I tried the GhostBSD live USB memory stick I have and it see's the drive as 1Tb. What gives or am I missing ? Please boost for a larger reach and thankyou.
Cake for breakfast ? Hmm no I prefer cereal with berries or scrambled eggs and if I'm really pushing the boat out I'll have some smoked salmon with my eggs.

Justine SmithiesJust received a panicked satellite telephone call from a fishing vessel currently fishing in the middle of the North sea saying that he needs help as all of the vsat, PC's and all screens on the vessel have gone off. It's not a vessel I know well so spent a while getting them to check breakers on the bridge and the engine room but nothing. I got them to plug a mobile charger in the double socket by the captains seat and it was working. So I wondered if there was a UPS somewhere. After getting the crew to hunt through the consoles and finding nothing, I asked if there was a hatch in the wheelhouse floor. Bingo as in the void space was a UPS beeping. Got them to try a few things but it was dead. Luckily there was only one output cable so I got them to connect the input to the output. Then I heard a loud cheer. Everything had come back to life. Job done. 😎
I've been running calyxos since getting my fairphone 4 when it launched and its been amazing. I have microg installed and all my uk banking apps work just fine. That's the only reason for installing microg though as I mainly use fdroid or obtanium for apps.
