@stefano @justine I stopped eating sweets and sugar years ago due to a family history of type 2 diabetes. I never had any problems, but I started measuring my blood sugar 2 years ago and it's OK. I still eat sweets sporadically, but they've been removed from my diet.

@justine sweets for breakfast is typical in Italy (and at least in part of France). I've been doing a sweet breakfast for years - now switched to different things to contain the weight 🙂

Cake for breakfast ? Hmm no I prefer cereal with berries or scrambled eggs and if I'm really pushing the boat out I'll have some smoked salmon with my eggs. -

@ParadeGrotesque @stefano @justine I grew up in a German colonized region in southern Brazil and for breakfast there is a lot of bread with schmier (jam) covered with a layer of cream, a slice of cheese and another of ham.

Sweet for breakfast is common in most of France, to be honest. I think Spanish people like their sweet things for breakfast as well.
Source: I had "pain au chocolat" for breakfast this morning.
OK, OK, I had a LOT of pain au chocolat VERY LATE today, but it still count as breakfast. 😉
Salty breakfast is more of a germanic / anglo-saxon thing but I am not holding that against our neighbours!
