Saw some news thing had a site where you could look up who had a nazi party registration in your family and some nonsense about guilt from the past and I cannot stress enough:

People in the past were bad.

They weren't you.

You are not magically a bad person because a bad person contributed genetic material to you.

What you do matters. Who bred you does not, at least it sure as fuck shouldn't, and doesn't to anyone who isn't an asshole.

Just added "UK" to my word mute list...can't recall the last time I have heard a positive thing about that country.

Soot lost Mr. Mouse, her previous favorite toy.

After a couple of weeks, she has selected this one, which I dub Ms. Cherry, to be her favorite toy.

I bought a half dozen of these because I knew she'd destroy/lose them. She only plays with her 'favorite', goodness knows how she decides. But once she does, she carries it around and demands I throw it.

I wish people understood that "exploit found in open-source project" is how open-source projects get MORE, not LESS secure.

You do not "make software without vulnerabilities." You fix them when they are found, just like other bugs. "Vulnerability found" does not mean "stop using permanently"

Critically, closed-source programs don't even need to be exploited for your information to be at risk. I'd rather my data be in plaintext on Mastodon than quantum-safe encrypted in Facebook's database.

Is there a #Buffer equivalent for Mastodon/fediverse? I currently only post to Mastodon anyway and on a single account; I just want something I can easily schedule posts for later at reasonable intervals so I don't spam too many at once. Which I usually fail at anyway, but that is the intent.

If you're in America...well, that's really all you should need to vote in any general election. Study up for the primaries, of course.

The maddening thing about current Gender Discourse is that motherfuckers really will say "There's a male loneliness crisis" while listening to podcasters who tell you to treat all women as objects and all men as rivals.

You've just eliminated roughly 100% of the human population from the possibility of being your friend. Of course you're lonely.

Everyone wishing to complain about #trans people in sports should have to beat Shaq 1 on 1 in basketball first.

Since sports are fair, that should be a 50/50 chance.

I would argue the closest thing to a "fair" sport is speedrunning, a sector that does not seem to struggle with its high trans participation rate.
