@BeAware@mementomori.social I think I would feel weird if I had thousands of followers that never spoke to me. It would be enough to probably cause me to never post again… 😉

How is ESO these days? I haven’t played in over 5 years. I would get a character about 15 hours in and just kind of stop. I’m not sure why, did it with at least 5 characters.

@BeAware@social.beaware.live It’s pretty strange, generally the fediverse feels pretty accepting and open to new ideas, but when it comes to federation beyond ActivityPub (a by-design federated protocol, ha!), not so much.

@BeAware@social.beaware.live To be blunt, he was essentially bullied into abandoning the opt-out bridge concept. 🤷🏻♂️

@BeAware@social.beaware.live @reiver Bridgy Fed was originally supposed to be opt-out, but so many people on ActivityPub based networks went bonkers with the notion that it somehow infringed on their privacy. I mean, I understand some of the argument relating to the possible increase of malicious actors, but that will happen regardless of any bridges if there is ever any significant active user growth. I was super excited about the bridge until that happened. It really killed any meaningful potential it may have had.

I just can’t grasp the notion of maintaining privacy on a completely open network protocol.

@paul@oldfriends.live @jrollans Wow, yeah, I had no idea! It seems like a pretty obvious necessity to have a way to stop federation and send out the message that the account is no longer active or an AP entity. Honestly to me it feels just as important as having a way to start federating in the first place.

@paul@oldfriends.live @BeAware@social.beaware.live @BeAware Yeah, that makes sense to me I think. I don’t think the instance I’m looking at taking down to swap out for something else has federated with a ton of other instances, so hopefully it wouldn’t take much time at all.

Hey, #ActivityPub folks that know more than me about the protocol, I have a question:

What kind of issues or concerns might I have if I shut down one kind of AP server software and then set up a different AP server on the domain previously occupied by the now decommissioned first AP server?

    (I don’t think the soon-to-be-shutdown server has a self-destruct.)

@stigatle@activitypub.stigatle.no Oh! I haven’t experienced any server crashes during my use of Mona. I’d love to build an iOS snac centric app, but time is far too short for me these days.

I’ve been using Mona and it’s quick and most things work, that I use at least. Would love to use Ivory, but there seems to be some incompatibility that I can’t track down.

My medication that I take for migraines would cost $11,579.64 a year if it weren’t for the state funded health insurance that I have. That’s just bonkers…

I would be curious to see the amount of monthly active users federating via #ActivityPub that are _not_ using #Mastodon as their server instance. Basically I want to know the number of folks that actively use the #fediverse sans Mastodon statistics.

    Anyone got an idea?

@Turnimunt@mastodon.social I know I’ve seen a site that basically lists statistics for all the different ActivityPub servers, just can’t remember where it was. Maybe it would be possible to get a rough calculation based on info there?

I can’t be certain if this is my main or my alt account, but you’re here and I’m here, so, hello!I’m a #musician and a lover of #technology (most of my “hobby time” is spent working on various bits of #OpenSource server software with a recent heavy lean towards #ActivityPub). This account resides on an instance of #snac2 (an ActivityPub server software) running on #arm64.Also, I’m a lifelong, massive, #StarTrek fan. I love it all, I don’t hate on any Trek, it’s all good. Especially the bad.
