   Well, I did it.

   Made new Threads and BlueSky accounts so I can have a usable social media experience.

   I love you peeps, but there's just not enough of my interests here to discuss. Pro Wrestling and certain video game discussions just don't happen on this platform.

   I TRIED to convince people to bridge, but that's basically impossible with the opt-in bullshit that the Fedi Mafia imposed on us.

   If you're on Threads, my username is @beaware.social

   If you're on Bluesky, it's @beawaretv.bsky.social (this may change, but shouldn't matter)

   I'm still gonna be here, but with the Fedi Mafia ruining every useful project that devs make here, I need to find another platform thats more usable.

     @reiver 🤷♂️there's probably too many people who complain. Not sure. I've asked Ryan, dev of Bridgy Fed many times if they're gonna make it opt-out and he said no. So fuck it. I'm on these other platforms for now.

     I wonder if they could be isolated from any developer that might want to develop here.

     ...

     For example, people built here in an opt-out manner, but all of their accounts are excluded.

     @BeAware@social.beaware.live @reiver Bridgy Fed was originally supposed to be opt-out, but so many people on ActivityPub based networks went bonkers with the notion that it somehow infringed on their privacy. I mean, I understand some of the argument relating to the possible increase of malicious actors, but that will happen regardless of any bridges if there is ever any significant active user growth. I was super excited about the bridge until that happened. It really killed any meaningful potential it may have had.
     
     I just can’t grasp the notion of maintaining privacy on a completely open network protocol.

     @BeAware@social.beaware.live It’s pretty strange, generally the fediverse feels pretty accepting and open to new ideas, but when it comes to federation beyond ActivityPub (a by-design federated protocol, ha!), not so much.

     I suspect the vast majority of people on the Fediverse — when they see something like Bridgy Fed, or searchtodon, or Fedicate, or FediOnFire, etc — either think something like "Oh, cool!" or are indifferent.

     I wonder what percentage of people on the Fediverse they are.

     0.0000001%?

     0.000001%?

     Because, I suspect they are not the majority.

     I suspect they are an extreme minority whose preference seems hostile to the vast majority of people on the Fediverse.
