@Raccoon the "Hate Speech / Harassment" label is doing a lot of heavy lifting. There are multiple instances that do not deserve to be on this list but only exist because these instances host a few annoying edgelord users that could be individually blocked.
The list of CP/pedo instances is appreciated though because I'd really prefer to not have to deal with the cops if they manage to get posts federated to my servers...

feld> After an initial demo, Job for a Cowboy's first proper release catapulted the Arizona band to unimaginable heights. It's likely no other metal band has gone as viral as quickly. Job for a Cowboy did so through technology -- MySpace, where the band amassed millions of profile views, and YouTube, where a fan cleverly mashed up "Knee Deep" with clips from SpongeBob SquarePants. Whether the band deserved such attention is debatable.
still waiting for the first breakout Fediverse metal band
@RTheren@darth This has been a problem for so many years it's silly. Is there anyone with a test environment and skills we can just throw a little money at to fix it?
@jima@dahukanna@risottobias Every nuclear power generation facility on the planet is MASSIVELY subsidized by governments. They're so expensive to operate and maintain; the economics of nuclear is completely upside down.
France thought it would get cheaper over time. There's an entire research paper about how it did not.
There is hope though. We may get actually affordable privately funded and operated SMRs soon. (Though I would be remiss to not admit that the entire research into these was very much not an exclusively private venture). There's still a lot of speculation that they'll be too expensive, though...
@munin I don't get how you come to that conclusion. Generative AI makes new art in the same way people make new art.
Every human artist is inspired and influenced by previous works. They had to see and consume art to get to where they are today.
I don't think you can take an isolated human with no access to any art, no knowledge of color theory, etc etc and get anything more advanced than cave drawings. By their very nature of being isolated from the rest of humanity you're just making a Jungle Book Mowgli
