   I will never connect a TV to the Internet. Use one of the dongles that are avail to stream to your TV. This also prevents spying on when you watch live TV

     @encthenet you have to for firmware updates which can fix modern TV rendering issues, but yes immediately turn it off when you're done.
     
     TVs basically compete on software/hardware to make the picture really good now with post processing
     
     We made TVs too complicated

     I did the initial configuration of my TV using wired ethernet specifically so that it would never, not even once, learn the password to my wifi. I sincerely hope that I gave whoever calculated the TV price discount for the surveillance features indigestion.

     The only reason I had a TV was for the PS4. Since I'm not planning to buy any more consoles, I won't have to find non-connected televisions. But if I bought a TV, I'd go with enc's idea above.

     > And so on until you tire of connecting and disconnecting it and leave it connected all the time.

     @lnxw37b2 @feld Have you ever thought about getting a monitor instead? Some of them have speakers, and IIRC they’re more likely to have 3.5mm/aux/line out ports for speakers than a TV would
