   i just want to mention that when i was a kid sometimes i would just read the dictionary, did anyone else do that

     @nev when I was growing up we had a full set of World Book Encyclopedias. I read them, a lot.

     They were as old as me, though. 1972. So I think I finally persuaded my mom to throw them away in like 2010.

     @paco @nev @g I also read the encyclopedias a lot when I was
     bored with my books.
     
     We had Britannica, but my grandparents had World Book.
     
     BTW they still make them. I think they're the only one left.
