@mttaggart@infosec.exchange I don't know any Linux distro that boot from exFAT. It would be faster, if you could.
I voted for btrfs, because as someone who used to lose power, I recall how easy data loss could take place in ext4. I also recall that zfs can prove to be a problem if you wish to resize something later.
@Sheril@mastodon.social For the past few years, I have been trying to aim to be plastic free, but almost seems impossible. Nearly everything is shipped, packaged, or lined with plastic these days.
@mudkip@wetdry.world Flatpak is better than Snap, but not everything is best run in a container. VPN, for example, where you want to ensure everything and everyone, system-wide is passed only through the Vpn. It does address the need for a more universal packaging distribution, but the hub (Flathub) seems to be to closely associated with GNOME. - Flatpak has its pros and cons.
I often suggest Ultramarine Linux (KDE Plasma), because it is nearly just as user-friendly as Microsoft Windows (you don't need to use the terminal). But I also suggest the distro, because it is based on Fedora, the upstream to Red Hat, owned by, IBM.
I've got something for everyone. No matter if you like open source or prefer to trust a corporation.
My primary account is here on Kitty Dot Social ( @Linux@kitty.social ), which uses my preferred software, CherryPick. I keep a reserved account at Misskey Dot De ( @Linux_Is_Best@misskey.de ), which, as the name implies, uses Misskey. Additionally, as keep a 2nd reserved account at Mastodon Dot Social ( @Linux_Is_Awesome@mastodon.social ), which, of course, uses the latest copy of Mastodon.
My reserved accounts are for those rare moments something is offline, and generally also to keep an eye on the two mainstream software platforms (Misskey and Mastodon). If you want to follow my reserved accounts, you can, but I am primarily here (Kitty Dot Social, using CherryPick).
I already work to a large social media company (Meta), and the idea of trusting another large social media company during my leisure, seems both counterproductive and unwise, given what I know. If most people read the TOS (terms of service) and understood them, you'd never join a corporate social media platform.
See how they treat their children, elderly, poor, and disabled. But also, see how often they drag their countrymen into war, and most importantly, how well or how poorly they treat those who have managed to have survived, and return home.
Change requires work and struggle, and sometimes sacrifice. But people want change. What they do not want is more of the same. We can go left, we can go right, but change is the goal.
Americans want dramatic change. Business as usual was the problem. The type of change most Americans want is not offered by moderates. Moderates are not electable, and the fear of a "Boogie man" is not a strategy.
You and everyone else, have likely made up their minds. Today is election day, and by sometime tonight or later tomorrow, we should have a good understanding on who our next President Elect is.
Remember, Corporate America, the very wealthy, would love it if Donald Trump won.
Of course, they want you to second guess yourself. Tomorrow you'll hear both that Kamala Harris is either winning or losing, and your vote is either not needed or will not make a difference.
Do NOT trust them, but do trust yourself and vote.
8 years ago, everyone was confident, as they are now, that Donald Trump would lose. Many people did not see a need to vote, because they were so sure he would lose.
I do not want a repeat of history. Every vote is both wanted and needed.
Donald Trump recently saying he thinks Adolf Hitler was a good leader, and that he believes he needs to mobilize the armed services onto Americans to "fight the enemy within" should have been a wake-up call to everyone.
But I digress. This man does not like his own people, and we know he does not see the people of Palestine or Gaza or anyone in the Middle East as people. He'd likely opt to turn the whole place into glass (nuke it) if he thought he could get away with it.

It took all that time for me to stumbled upon true racist on the Fedi. Meanwhile, Meta, where I work, has that nonsense every few minutes. The Fediverse is better.
That said, there is something empowering about turning a Nazi's 1,000 buck iPhone into a paperweight on our platform. At best, all we can do here is de-Federate.
Oh well. It's still a good place to escape from work. -- Hey, Nazi's ... You mad bro?
Brave Browser is chromium for racist and bigots. Their CEO is anti women's right, anti LGBTQ+, a supporter of Donald Trump, and even a COVID-19 denier.
Pervious, Fedora v41 within Mozilla Firefox, "Website Advertising Preferences" was disabled. Today, after installing a fresh copy of the Fedora beta, and upgrading, I discovered this has been enabled by default.
Unless you want the ad company, Mozilla to learn and monitor ad performance, even when using an ad blocker, I suggest you disable this "feature".
While I have your attention, Vivaldi browser is everything Firefox should have been the past 10+ years. You should try it, as the open source development Firefox continues to bundle adware, spyware, and AI, and other developments, such as Brave, get worse by including all that, plus cryptocurrency. Vivaldi has none of that nonsense.
Describe myself? Why? Who I believe I am is irrelevant to who you're going to believe me to be.Language: While I do natively write in English, I also use a combination of DeepL and Naver SmartBoard to translate my text to better communicate. If you notice an error, please let me know, and I'll forward it to the right people. This is my primrary account.
