@_elena Thank you for sharing this behaviour by @Linux And I fully agree with you. if someone speculates about another person in public, it should be after due diligence, which at the very least should mean to tag the person in question so he/she/they can be part of the discussion.
Although, only speculation, I notice this individual seems less like a prospecting journalist, and more like an advertising placeholder.
They made a similar post two (2) months ago, even starting it as their introduction to the Fediverse (see screenshot).
I am not a journalist, or inspiring blogger, but I would presume in two (2) months time, the article would have enough shared options to go to story. I also find it odd that they praise Sharkey in both post, as oppose to giving no opinion, and just asking people what they think.
That said, when I was confronting Sharkey, while still hanging out in their Discord Server, I learned they do use alternative accounts to help paint their narrative.
Again, my theory is only speculation, based on my experience and dealings with Sharkey. It just seems to fit their track record. And if in this instance, I am wrong, I apologize, but would again, point out that this is something they (Sharkey Development) have done in the past.
@_elena@mastodon.social I’m not a journalist and I’m not being paid by anyone to promote the Fediverse. It is obvious you're not a journalist, and I never said or implied you were paid. Only that your would-be public inquire seems odd, since it does appear more promotional. I would have appreciated a tag and not a sub-toot to clear up things and engage in a conversation about thisI prefer transparency. I am not one to private message anyone to clear things up, and rather everything be out in the open.
1) They were tagged before my post concerning them 2) They were invited by, myself, to view my post history 3) They, themselves, admit they found my post as a result (which was a continuation of the 1st)
If you're not going to do your diligence, it is not my concern, but the OP did, and so this is not an issue. Furthermore, at their request, I make the exceptional effort to tag them going forward. That is going above and beyond.
