I guess a better apples-to-apples comparison would be the official Mastodon app. Or how about Ivory for Mastodon by Tapbots. Or maybe Toot! for Mastodon. Or maybe Ice Cubes for Mastodon. I’m sure I’m missing something

So i was curious and peeked at the App Store listing for Threads, an Instagram App and holy crap they want a lot of data. I looked at Firefox, a whole-ass web browser, and whew that’s a difference

So I peeked in on Twitter for the first time in awhile.

@roadriverrail Back in about 1990, when I was 15, I got interested in Dianetics from the old volcano TV commercials. I was into reading a lot of pop psych and self-help at the time.

At some point I took a sidewalk personality test in Royal Oak, MI, where there used to be a Scientology org. From there, I got suckered into a $150 course on self-esteem and assertive communication.

Ever since then, across at least 12 address changes and 3 states, they have followed me.

Welp, the Scientologists have sent me more stuff. They send me something every other day, just about. But today, it’s the glossy magazine I get every month or so

I feel like the folks behind all the enshittification in streaming TV services forget that piracy is a thing and possibly more convenient than their thing as the enshittification intensifies

@randometc @danhon I think the ethernet or fiber is better in the long run and the MoCA adapters can be spendy.

But, if it’s near impossible to replace the coax in an ancient house without damaging plaster walls, MoCA is kinda magic

@thomasfuchs Most of the time (including on mobile) I don't even want to grab the scroll handle, I just want an at-a-glance idea of how much content is left on a page without having to futz with it
