Unfortunately not all apps (e.g. some Electron apps) adheres to the setting; and there's no such setting on iOS either.

Les Orchard (lmorchard@hackers.town)'s status on Sunday, 16-Apr-2023 02:37:41 JST Les Orchard @thomasfuchs Most of the time (including on mobile) I don't even want to grab the scroll handle, I just want an at-a-glance idea of how much content is left on a page without having to futz with it

Andeshand (andeshand@mastodon.sdf.org)'s status on Sunday, 16-Apr-2023 03:15:53 JST Andeshand @lmorchard @thomasfuchs I have been thinking this exact thing - need a common, unobtrusive UI element for this that doesn't obscure part of the screen

Thomas 🔭🕹️ (thomasfuchs@hachyderm.io)'s status on Sunday, 16-Apr-2023 03:15:53 JST Thomas 🔭🕹️ @andeshand @lmorchard We already have, it's called a scroll bar. :)
Attaching how native apps looks like in macOS when using a mouse; scrollbar is unobtrusive and indicates relative viewport and length of data.

Thomas 🔭🕹️ (thomasfuchs@hachyderm.io)'s status on Sunday, 16-Apr-2023 03:17:26 JST Thomas 🔭🕹️ @andeshand @lmorchard On iOS, scroll bars appear briefly while you scroll, so you can quickly look up the relative position and viewport size just by putting your finger down (which likely is already there anyway).
