@madeindex @Aktivgegenmuell When someone pays for their order using a bank card, we need the “name on card” field to be printed on a custom take-out bag and cups. Something like “Enjoy your coffee John C. Wilson”. Then when the litter gets picked up we have a culprit.

They can opt-in to anonymity by paying cash. Because card payers don’t give a shit about privacy anyway.

Indeed. Someone in my family was on a pescetarian diet (vegan+fish) and was hospitalized for malnutrition. I was surprised because I would have expected the fish exception to mitigate most risks. I don’t know what he did wrong but I guess omega-3 would not have been the issue (he loved sushi).

@madeindex @melroy The problem is that many different GM techniques are described as “GMO”, but they are not equal. Some techiques are quite risky and some are about as safe as simple cross-breeding that happens in nature.

Europe invests in GMO research (there is a misconception that Europe has banned GMO when really it’s just some regions).

So I would not fear GMO as a whole w.r.t safety. But all GMO’d US-sourced food involves Monsanto. Boycotting US-based GMO is a way to boycott Monsanto.

The problem with Monsanto is they are trying to take control of the world’s food supply. They want to monopolize so the that whole world needs Monsanto for survival. I’m not sure on the details of Monsanto’s bullying but I heard many Indian farmers committed suicide over it.

It’s depressing how big the list of food brands is -- but it’s managable despite being all the brands you are likely familiar with. I have been boycotting all of them for over a decade so it can be done.

I have to wonder if the journalist is confusing frogs with toads. If they are playing with #ayahuasca, it seems more likely that they would be playing with toads because it is a Bufo Alvarious toad that has the DMT in their secretions.

@killyourfm The app could be optional. The machine status could be published on a simple website. The electronic top-up bank could be an optional mechanism. There is no reason they cannot serve a cash payer (thus excluding no one) while also giving the extra frills opportunistically.

I do recall lists of nodes that indicate cloudflare. If I were looking for a node, I would look on the #greenFediverse list. There are 2 of those lists. One of them flags Cloudflare sites because CF is also bad for environment. So that gives an idea.

We need to stigmatize centralized people farms like #LemmyWorld, #ShitJustWorks, #Lemmee, etc just like #AOL users were in the 90s. Make it clear that these accidental #Cloudflare supporters are made aware that they lack a nuanced understanding of the #fedi #decentralization concept. If it’s as successful as the AOL stigma was, we can get more people to join the free world.

@madeindex Users of #LemmyWorld, #ShitJustWorks, and #Lemmee do not generally know what Cloudflare is, even though those three sites are inside Cloudflare’s walled garden. Those users are oblivious to the fact that they are supporting a platform that arbitrarily excludes several demographics of people while empowering a US tech giant. So they are accidental supporters.

BTW, mastodon.social used to be a Cloudflare site, but at some point they ditched CF.

Programming.dev uses a whitelist but all five of them effectively feed an oppressive US tech giant.

There’s a practical problem with the 1st four: if you post an image, the image does not get copied to federated nodes. So people excluded by Cloudflare cannot see your image, just the comments around it. It breaks the fedi and goes against fedi principles.
