    @nikitonsky@mastodon.online @grishka@friends.grishka.me All these |x| for absolute values or x² or x³ for squares and cubes definitely look nice, but are pretty uncomfortable to type in. So I would prefer good old abs(x) and pow(x,n).

    @badnetmask@hachyderm.io I don't remember anything like this about C, but I remember the time when almost all of the Python programs were named like "py-something" 😉

    @lxo@snac.lx.oliva.nom.br My point is plain simple: if you use any proprietary components in your workflow, you just can't guarantee your program does exactly what it's intended to do.

    @lxo@snac.lx.oliva.nom.br
    What the program looks like:#include <stdio.h>
    int main() {
    printf("Hello, World!");
    return 0;
    }What the program does:

    A FOSS compiler — prints "Hello, world!"

    A hypothetic compiler made by some evil corporation — does something evil and maybe prints "Hello, world!" You never know.

    Of course, I'm exaggerating here, but it's possible.
    So... Your stack fucking matters.

    Just finished reading "Grief is a Thing with Feathers" by Max Porter.
    Tick, Tock, rickety flock, they're grieving but they do it improperly. My beak will take a leak and teach'em how to do that, I'm a fucking psychologist.
    Ted Hughes is god.

    The whole book reads something like this. Bye, Crow, good riddance.

    I'm wondering how did cybersecurity idiots come up with the idea not to fill in a login form and send user credentials at once like it was in good old days, but to require user to enter his credentials sequentially (some sort of "wizard style") and send them using two requests?
    What is this BS for? To make determining what logins on this site are valid for an attacker easier?

    Tutanota just sucks. Yesterday I needed to get an email verification from some website I had been stupid enough to register using a tutanota account. Well, "your account was deleted due to inactivity". OK, let's recreate it and get the verification code again. Well, Tutanota allowed me that but after I reloading the page I was thrown to the login page again. I entered my credentials and... "Your account was deleted due to inactivity". WTF?! I read their help page and found out that you just can't recreate your deleted account, you have to register a paid account if you don't already have it and link your "deactivated" address to it as an alias. So, Tutanota don't actually delete accounts due to inactivity, it keeps these addresses to extort money from hapless users just in case one day they have to use them.
    That's a sort of racket, Tutanota, fuck you.

    I suggest everyone not to trust this scum.
