@BowsacNoodle Yes, you are indisputably correct — which is of course the entire point that I am making. Francis devoted his life in the RCC’s top spot, toward making sure an African would be the beloved of any actual Catholics remaining.

It finally clicked once I heard about the papal front-runner; Francis’s life’s work was in doing absolutely everything in his power to see to it that his successor would be a nigger.

Also, that any/all remaining Roman Catholics would positively clamor for his instatement.

@dcc @Sovereign I don’t disagree; but it’s obvious by now that unqualified “American” could mean anything - any racial category at all. The term has been officially, institutionally deracinated for all intents and purposes. So, in spite of the original intended purpose for the color-coding, it’s now swung to the opposite pole.
