@Hoss@BobsonDugnuttHB@Bunsen@Terry@WandererUber@demonofustio@Griffith Ah ok. I try not to look too far into the future because so much could happen and it is very hard to predict anything too far off. So you could be correct but its so far off that a lot could happen that neither of us could foresee.
@Hoss@BobsonDugnuttHB@Bunsen@Terry@WandererUber@demonofustio@Griffith I don't see China in this light. If they give me a reason to reconsider I will but for now, nothing indicates this. China going this route would also push Russia into the arms of the US and Europe, something China has interest in avoiding so far.
@WandererUber@BobsonDugnuttHB@Bunsen@Terry@Hoss Somalia was a operation. Hardly a war AFAIK. The US has a long history of defeats. The best example was Vietnam. It took a long while for the US to get back into war after Vietnam and they did it as a non-draft military with only volunteers. Desert Storm was what really turbo boosted the thirst for war but before Desert Storm the US didn't get majorly involved for a while.
@Hoss@BobsonDugnuttHB@Bunsen@Terry It is basically what is needed for us to stop obsessing with our military sector. Nobody is going to invade the US. We have enough guns to destroy anyone in a guerilla war type scenario. We have a parasitic relationship with the MIC. People look at how much we spend on the military and translate that into "we are the best!". It is mostly price gouging because there isn't real competition in the MIC.
@Polfusilier@Terry The best thing Iran could do is mimic the porcupine strategy Russia uses against NATO. I would think not directly confronting Israeli and American planes. Rather just protecting their air assets when they aren't in a contested airspace. Whatever amount of air power they have it probably isn't enough to directly confront US forces. The US after all is a naval and air power unlike Russia and Iran.
@Orkin_Awk@Polfusilier@Terry I highly doubt this. I'd even bet on them not having anything like that. Only major states have the infrastructure to be able to manufacture them. Iran has been on the threshold for a while due to the number of centrifuges they have purifying uranium.
@BobsonDugnuttHB@Bunsen@Terry Even a bombing campaign is going to be tougher than ever for American pilots. Not saying they won't work because I'm sure they have many tricks up their sleeves but I doubt the efficiency. There are so many mountains in Iran. Pretty big ones. Iran has prepared for this with excellent radar coverage and air defense. What is even more important is that they have so many underground facilities. Like entire cities underground with missiles. The only thing I hope comes out of this is Iran seeking a nuclear bomb if they get attacked and they develop one quickly.
@Kickingbadger7@Terry I hope it won't go this far. Israel and the US have this mistaken belief almost any war can be won from the skies and every time the US has put boots on the ground, a decade or two later, after a lot of money and lives invested, we eventually leave.
