- Pop OS is getting better now (especially with COSMIC being GNOME but sensible), but the old Pop Shop is a complete meme that drains one's will to live and is literally why Linus fried his entire install from just trying to get Steam :woozy_angry:

Hopefully he at least picks an actually good distro this time - Linux really is an awesome family of OSes, and it's just that it doesn't yet fit everyone's hardware and software needs :blobcat_wine:

I remember using computers with them in the High School computer labs back around 2019, where they were faster than the Celeron-infested e-waste I had back at home. They could handle Youtube like a champ along with multiple browser tabs open, and they only struggled when I browsed on the USA Today news site (which sucks ass anyways). It also seems that they're still truckin' along as long as you have either Tiny11 or Linux on them. Smartphones and tablets will suffer the curse of the spicy pillow (or the manufacturer just says "fuck you" and ends support early), but the Core 2 Duo will continue to satisfy budding libre software nerds for years to come.

Almost all Fedi instances are either fully free to join or just require the mods inviting you, and they mostly rely on donations from its users to cover costs (they can even be paid for out-of-pocket, even). I expected Nostr to have a similar culture of open decentralization like Fedi. :neofox_think:
