@TechLibre We knew we could break the code but that doesn't mean we knew what was going to happen in Pearl Harbor. In fact, we thought the attack was going to be in the Philippines which indeed there was one on the same day (but across the dateline; it happened the evening of December 7 in the United States.)

The fleet was sent out to try to find the Japanese in the near Pacific, which the fleet failed to do. It was also also a way to get the carriers out of the harbor so they didn't box the entire fleet in if they were sunk.

Precautionary measures do not an inside job make.
