@dalias @GossiTheDog I assumed that suiciding your academic credibility would be something people wouldn't consider without ample compensation, even if they didn't intend to go into classic academia. I projected myself ascribing value to my own integrity onto other people. My mistake 😞

@GossiTheDog This is total speculation, but I wouldn't put it past the AI techbros to pay some students to write some BS papers. 🤷 It's enough to have some papers out there you can cherry pick. They don't have to be valid, good, or peer reviewed. The revocation process for academic papers is even less effective than the one for TLS certs 😂 Most people outside academia just see that someone cites a paper and assumes the facts are good. If you are lucky someone checks wheter the paper actually exist.

Aparently #microsoft patched a serious #vulnerability by creating a folder in the #windows root dir and telling users not to delete it. They won't or can't tell why. Another piece of evidence that MS actually has no clue any longer how their steaming heap of crap even actually works. We've arived in #warhammer40k. We now use
#technomancy to fix our #computers.

@protonprivacy You better get Andy away from any keyboards and officially distance the company from the deluded and counterfactual nonsense he's currently spewing. Looking back, PR isn't your strong suite. You've had a bunch of communication cockups in the past which seriously hurt #protonmail. People still bring these up when talking about #proton. You can't control #fascism to further your own goals. Ask Paul von Hindenburg, he can tell you a story about that.

I'm convinced each of his companies has a small Elon containment department. A handfull of people who's whole job it is to keep him out of things and keep the damage to a minimum when he does show up. 🤪

I just realized why #amazon is fundamentally unable to make good #movies , #videogames , #tvseries or #art in general. The whole company is based on finding lowest point of cost vs. quality to maximise units sold and make money through economy of scale. Make everything as generic and none-offensive to maximise the potential audience. That's the DNA of the company. It's impossible to produce anything #artistic or #creative on this background. The outcome will inevitable be soulless and generic.

@fribbledom Another case of "I wouldn't mind if you take my data, if you'd actualls do something useful with it". But they don't. They don't have any incentive to serve you what you like. They serve you what you'll click on. That's two different things.

@catsalad I used lemon juice and backing soda to get lipstick out of our precious white napkins. Depends on what the lipstick is based on though. Most of them are fatbased, so most things that desolve fat would work. Avoid any harsh cleaning agents like acetone on synthetic fabrics though. It'll turn them into soup 🫠
