It's just easier to leave most of the moderating to users so they can curate the experience that they want to have and mute what they want to. Then all I have to worry about is the legal shit.
@vriska@icedquinn@triodug I'm not going to be able to look at him the same way again. I didn't know/recall this. Wtf? These things seem to get memory holed.
@clacke I do find it interesting that you don't think they have a left party here. How would you define the left?
It doesn't help that the people behind the parties insist on voting particular families and old people to become the president. They have a laughing stock of a president that can't seem to string coherent sentences together to make speeches and make decisions with a clear mind. This is bad news for every nation that the US holds influence over. I don't know where we go from there. But I think you might be right, it may be better to split the US up. At least let the Native Americans have their own country on their land, a place where their laws are upheld and they can practice their culture and remember their forebears. We forget so much of history and who we are at our peril.
@clacke I think we've reached a point where all the main parties are out of whack all over the western world, they do not support the average working citizen. Instead they seem to be doing everything they can to make life harder for them.
@clacke Wouldn't that be more Republican? Conservatism is more broad so what you said seemed off to me and I hope you can see why I took issue with it... and I'm not too familiar with the discourse happening here. Even then, a lot of what you mention here is rooted in economic arguments which is not very convincing to me.
@clacke That sounds more like something that liberals or libertarians would appreciate. Also, not all conservatives seek the American dream or root their conservatism in it. That sounds very American-centric to me.
I prefer listening to artists that sing traditional and older music. I guess that would be country for the US. Classic as a genre is great for conservatives too. But even here, I don't expect conservatives to appreciate it all.
@clacke Why should conservatives love her if they believe in conservative values? Does she sing about conservative values? I don't think anyone should have to love an artist even if they shared the same values though. Music is also a huge preference thing and it is okay to not prefer a music style or artist or even a particular song. I do like a few of her songs but I don't buy the idea that anyone has to love her or be a fan of her. Or even see her as a good role model. Fandom can also be quite divisive.
@icedquinn Those people sound like they are anti-working class to me. At least, they must support the corporations and capitalism because this is who these migration policies support most. They are the ones often complaining about needing workers and bringing them over legally and cheaply. Poaching people from countries that need talent more.
It's also the tactic of an oppressor. If you learn history, you know that the King of England sent English workers into Wales to build his castles. An even better example is the Highland clearance and English enclosures by Lords. Even though for the most part you aren't supposed to be able to move the peasant class around. It went against the rights of peasants. Now our overlords at corporations aren't tied to land or even a nation.
