@inthehands As a native Coloradoan I am still salty about the summer camp kids in Minnesota who informed me that Colorado was not "western" but that California was. Validation, at long last.
This #caturday an outdoor cat I first met in 2020 and have had an ongoing friendly but somewhat guarded relationship with came onto my porch for the first time while I was sitting there and climbed directly into my lap. He gave himself a thorough licking, my hand a polite one, and slept for an hour and a half.
I just realized that the “note” feature on profiles here is useful for a feature I *longed* for on Twitter: a way to remind myself why I originally followed someone.
So excited to have realized this, because I’m feeling sure that keeping my following list shorter is going to be part of making a home here.
I want to actually engage meaningfully and consistently with the people I *do* follow, rather than turning (once again) into a passive follower and booster.
@ct_bergstrom Your decision is perfectly justifiable, even though it will be a loss. I second the suggestion of using archive.org on threads like the one you mention, the ones that feel like important historical work to you.
@lauravivanco@dailywafflebooks@mom@willaful I’m paying attention to my feed and trying to to make it too big too fast so I can sus out people who are here vs. exclusive cross-posters. It’s odd how the “flavor” of a native fediverse post is becoming identifiable to me.
There are a few cross-posters I don’t mind because I follow them for informational reasons but the real conversation happening here is so precious and that’s what I’m seeking to build around me now.
@herhandsmyhands Honestly it was weirdly shocking in a way that it wouldn’t have been on #TheFowlPlace because our mods do such a good job. I chose this instance without much due diligence and am so grateful to have landed somewhere so well run and such a nice scale.
@herhandsmyhands It was a reply to a post about classic music containing the #MaskUp hashtag with the n-word and “you can’t make me vax” or something along those lines.
and their instance is a “free speech” instance that explicitly says all opinions are fine except csm and other illegal stuff basically
@herhandsmyhands sorry to be dense but i was able to find the poster again through other people’s comments, and they’re not on our instance. the person i would be reporting is the admin on their instance, so they won’t moderate themselves.
is this a time i should have used the fediblock hashtag?
@AlgoCompSynth I sent enough information to my admin on that particular person that they can find the instance for blocking. Is that what you mean by reporting? Or is there a more central place?
I am curious about basically everything but in particular animals, finance, fashion, art, calligraphy, politics, cocktail recipes, cooking, paleography, languages, gardening. #tfr.Fiction: fantasy, sf, period romance (particularly non-European).Non-fiction runs the gamut.投稿はほとんど英語になると思いますが、(左翼の)政治とアートと日米関係に興味のある方を是非フォローしたいです。Boulder, CO / NYC@whetstone on Twitter, but not really there nowadays. She/her, or whatever you like.
