@zzt My new response to people that say I should use AI or accept AI generated patches for @pidgin is for them to use their amazing AI to create their own version of #Pidgin. I'm still waiting for something to show up...

As many of you know I've been doing part time independent contracting for a few years now. But I got a bit too comfy and have only had a single client for awhile and they just let me know that they're going to be cutting my hours.

So, if you need a 30+ plus years of C, golang, python, etc developer, an OP/Admin with 20+ years of Linux/BSD administration, and/or 20+ years of Open Source project maintainership, please reach out!!

@joshbressers I still need to finish the post on the Screen Share OTR guy, but I'm pretty sure we just ran another malware guy away from pidgin. Not sure there's a story there, but I'm thinking other open source projects might have similar experiences and could be an interesting show?

I ended up banning this most recent guy, but then started looking at the domain his email was under. It looked very shady and within a few hours of banning him it was up for sale.

@jwz @SomaFMrusty I proposed a project to nlnet to attempt to tackle this and they rejected it... 🙄

@Gargron yay thinking I might prioritize a mastodon and/or general activity pub plugin in @pidgin now...

@jorge The @pidgin community coined the term FSUES or Free Software User Entitlement Syndrome many years ago.

So many users "know exactly what needs to be done" in a project they know nothing about, and will never do anything to help the situation.

Keep this in mind if an Open Source Developer snaps on you, it's probably because you're the 791st person to tell them your issue and that no one has infinite patience.
