@davidtoddmccarty its become a lot more common over the last decade. Goalies have gotten better so the floor for the position has increased which means that there's a lot more "good enough" goalies. That and supposedly the sports science says to give them more rest between games.

Great shoot out winner from Frost. To bad it won't count for his point totals in a contract year. Flyers win game 1 of 82. Michkov definitely got stronger as the game continued. He looked great in the third period and took a few monster saves to keep of the scoreboard. Lukachenko had a few moments he looked a little indecisive but mostly seemed pretty good for an 18 year old kid making his debut as the youngest #Flyer ever.

Very interested to see what the numbers say but Risto has looked pretty good so far in his return for the #Flyers season debut. Actually getting a good season (and boosting his trade value) would be big for the Flyers this year

@timo21 yeah this was my approach last year and I usually try to check each season to see what's changed. So far this still seems to be the cheapest route 🙃

@GregMitchell looks like I double counted shootout losses as separate from OT losses when parsing the original data. I took out the extra set of losses and now it looks like everything adds up to 82 games. Thanks again!

@GregMitchell looks like you're correct. I can't believe I didn't catch that earlier. I'll have to double-check the underlying data bc some games are definitely getting double counted.

In honor of the first day of the new #NHL season check out this app I've been working on in my spare time. It's the NHL standings according to the (superior) 3-2-1 points system. Right now it's showing last year's season final standings but once this season kicks off in earnest I'll update it to start displaying the 2024-2025 standings. Let me know what you think!

@Elledeeay nah there were a few good ones that I can remember watching with the Ravens and the AFC but I'm talking YEARS ago. I will say with confidence that it is probably the best game in the 2020s
