   @davidtoddmccarty its become a lot more common over the last decade. Goalies have gotten better so the floor for the position has increased which means that there's a lot more "good enough" goalies. That and supposedly the sports science says to give them more rest between games.

     HOCKEY:

     I’m dating myself, I guess. When did they start platooning goalies? Last I knew, if you had a good goalie, they played every game. Now I’m being told they use multiple goalies. Do I have this right?
