@aral Don't bother yourself. He might sometimes have a good moment, but usually he is an a***hole. Once he has a position, he will not do what he should be doing (I remember him as minister for agriculture - so many things he could have done, for the environment, for ex., but that might have made him unpopular with certain ppl). And much more.
@aral I also would have agreed until ... well, some time ago. But meanwhile it is obviously only a small minority who would give a damn for the life of a Palestinian. This morning I found this video with Gideon Levys assessment of the situation - I think he knows well enough:
@aral Very true. I was absolutely glad to hear that one of my nephews from Germany convinced his boss to cancel his trip - business, yes, but obviously possible to conduct that via internet. And I don't think my nephew is very politically active.
@aral That's exactly what I am afraid of. I watched the flotilla in 2010. Of course, no one was ever punished for the murders. Also, the USA damn cared that one of the dead was their citizen.
It's not just Trump - when it comes to Palestine, also #Germany crashes down on supporters of Palestine. The law to do this and more exists since many years. No one took too much notice, as it was mostly used against #Muslims .
Here the article in the Guardian - saying the same like me:
"This kind of repression isn’t new in Germany. The lawyer Alexander Gorski told me he has handled similar cases where migration law was used against people of Arab or Palestinian descent – often triggered by a social media post, comment or even a “like”.
I'm watching #Germany. And it makes me sad for a lot of reasons. What I regret very much here in the #fediverse is that whenever some nice people talk about their fears for certain groups in Germany if the right wing gets to govern - they name foreigners, queers, jews, sometimes disabled - but you know for whom none has a single thought? Us muslims. And I am afraid most of them would not stand up once mosques get closed, hijabis discriminated, prayers damned, ppl forced to eat in Ramadan. #Islam
