@HauntedOwlbear@eldritch.cafehow can i tell if a space i’m in could be subject to a far-right takeover? like i’m a (classic) doom fan, right? we exist in an almost paradise where pretty much 90% of the hundreds of hours of community content is completely FLOSS, but there’s a problem in that the game doesn’t have explicit political commentary (you can argue that doom is a parody/commentary on the military-industrial complex, what with the main conflict of the game being caused by secret teleportation experiments from the Union Aerospace Corporation, which works with the military to the point that personnel are stationed there, which attracts the attention of demonic forces, but this reading isn’t extremely obvious and can easily be shrugged off by bad actors.) and the community is mostly white men. do you think we’re prone to an alt-right infiltration, and if so what can i do?

@kaia i’ve heard that pine64 has a reasonable alternative, but i don’t really follow small-computer stuff nowadays anyways.

@lain this is wholesome, but I feel like I’m missing something, like I (think I) got the ‘I’m not gonna jerk off that’s weird’ bit, like “heehee funny joke about how weird some of the things people are in to,” but I feel a little like a normal, non-internet savvy person being shown an image of a pony toy in a jar with no/inadequate context.

@Polychrome and ig, what language works best with godot?

note: the “games” i want to make are mostly just small 2d game jam entries, like mid-quality platformers and zelda-type adventure games. my pipe dream games are, in order of difficulty to pull off; a remake of the original atari Adventure game, and a 3d kart-racer with controls likening to the snes and gba mario karts.

also for engines, i’ve been considering bevy just because it has rust compat (as i think thats what i want to primarily program in for the future, when i understand coding more,) and it has more focus on making more of the game from scratch.

also i need an engine that works well with mac (dont worry i have an intel mac,) as that’s what i’m stuck with until i have enough money, intelligence, (and trust from my parents) to get a proper PC that i can work linux on.

@Mondobizarrro @Moon uhh, it should be federated so that it doesnt die in two years, and i’d think it’d personally be cool if it had a little club penguin-type room thing for voice chat with a proximity vc system
