    note: the “games” i want to make are mostly just small 2d game jam entries, like mid-quality platformers and zelda-type adventure games. my pipe dream games are, in order of difficulty to pull off; a remake of the original atari Adventure game, and a 3d kart-racer with controls likening to the snes and gba mario karts.

      @shroomie I'd recommend Godot then. It's excellent for 2D games, got good at 3D a few years back and keeps improving at a surprisingly high pace. It got a big support boost after the recent Unity mess and it's also an open source project so that's a plus.

      also i need an engine that works well with mac (dont worry i have an intel mac,) as that’s what i’m stuck with until i have enough money, intelligence, (and trust from my parents) to get a proper PC that i can work linux on.

      also for engines, i’ve been considering bevy just because it has rust compat (as i think thats what i want to primarily program in for the future, when i understand coding more,) and it has more focus on making more of the game from scratch.
