    I see some ppl here that do real interesting work in tech and I feel like I'm utterly behind because I didn't start reverse engineering games at 12 or something, people with deep systems programming and reverse engineering knowledge seems to be the only ones doing any kind of work in tech where you actually get the apply the fundamentals of software engineering and grow your skills, for me, developing in a consultancy made me feel my skills actively atrophy, spent far more time copypasting shit in and out of excel than coding, two lines of code every 3 months was common. Software would run with blatant bugs for years and no one would care, the correct values would be calculated manually and inserted into the database also manually. Software was a layer of bullshit that just added more bullshit work instead of automating anything. It's so fucking bleak. I feel like a few godly freelance engineers that fix the messes the industry leaves behind when they turn to be critical are the only ones with fulfilling jobs. I should have become a cook or something.

    @Mondobizarrro @ink @lanodan @nyx I was just shitposting, obviously of iPhones didn't exist Android or whatever Google or Blackberry or Nokia would have come up with would not be seen as the poor man's/nerd's choice and smartphones would have evolved very similarly anyway. I just find the idea of women being repelled by Android like vampires by a cross funny.

    @nyx @ink @lanodan The only "re-decentralization" project that would work would be making a time machine and nuking apple HQ before iPhone is released. That way, Google takes the lead in smartphone technologies, all mobile phones are Android, and mobile computing becomes forever associated with giving women "the ick", ensuring being online never becomes popular among normies and centralized social networks never reaching the critical mass of users they need to become viable.

    @nyx What the fuck is with real estate prices. Why do they keep going up even after 2008? I expect a lot of people to give up on working more than the bare minimum to afford food and stay living with parents forever or squat or live in super-packed shared housing or smth because working full time is just pointless when your labor just can't afford housing.
