@ryanhoulihan yes exactly, people somehow still don't understand that minorities who have to endure constant exposure to hatred of us & our people suffer both mentally & physically after a lifetime of such exposure. It was part of what finally made me drop Meta, other than being drowned in ads: i couldn't continue participating on an online platform that so obviously prioritizes & protects hate speech, on top of the regular daily hate sentiment I see & hear IRL. It literally affects my health.

The plan itself was based on a republican plan ("Romney-care"). Nothing Obama could have done short of literally being Clarence Thomas would not have resulted in red scare responses from the right. 🤷

@verge even though they labeled it "insights by AI," it doesn't necessarily make it clear that Microsoft was at fault, so it's not that unreasonable for readers to think the Guardian had some kind of involvement. So I think not only should AI generated content be clearly marked as AI, but also clearly mark WHOSE AI it is.

@Simulacrum @timnitGebru what's got me pull my hair out is like, the collective amnesia of it all. Do people think this is all happening in a fucking vacuum? Did they forget about literally the dozens of other times Hamas has attacked Israel & Israel retaliated disproportionately by doing more war crimes & annexing more land & displacing more Palestinians, & everyone said "hey Israel really should treat Palestinians like people & also land back" THOSE TIMES as well??? DECADES this has gone on!!

@signalthirteen @Simulacrum @timnitGebru the Onion had a grim but lucid piece about that, called "Gazans criticized for not using last words to condemn Hamas." I would recommend it, but it's a bit graphic and thus intended for western audiences who are disconnected from the violence and need to be jarred awake with vivid imagery. If you're more personally affected in any way you don't really need more than the headline.
