   Abolish the goddamn health insurance industry. Make these fuckers in Congress do what they're supposed to do and pass a Universal Healthcare bill. Tired of reading stories about crowdfunding surgeries or insurance companies shafting customers. Enough of that.

     @DontMindMe @itsmeholland @paninid No. You'd be happy to be a socialist country if it was all-white. The reason why "America" is so afraid of communism or socialism is because it would significantly improve the circumstances of people that have been purposely impoverished. It's that simple.

     @itsmeholland @paninid @Adam_Cadmon1 It’s hard to prove a counterfactual, but I think the Red Scare would have happened anyway. Fear of poor people getting a little better than they deserve is deep in our cultural DNA and well predates Obama.

     @DontMindMe @paninid @Adam_Cadmon1 hard to overstate how much being platformed by the first black president contributed to that red scare though. The plan itself was based on a republican plan ("Romney-care"). Nothing Obama could have done short of literally being Clarence Thomas would not have resulted in red scare responses from the right. 🤷

     The US will never have universal health care. The ACA was a huge giveaway to insurance companies, and even THAT sparked a Red Scare for being too socialist.

     The American people would never tolerate a genuinely socialist-type system.

     I don’t disagree.

     It’s become a #WickedProblem.

     The ecosystem of the industry is intertwined and covers the face of America like a vampire squid.

     It’s a cartel, the members sell bonds on the market, the bonds gets packaged into mutual funds, the mutual funds get packaged into 401ks, which have to get drained to pay for health expenses.
