@thomasfuchs Algorithms can definitely make things that as a final product is not the same as something that ever existed itself before. So in a way "creative" in that respect, I guess.
And largely a lot of things humans create are based on the fact that things already exist and they take the next logical step and make something new.
Not trying to defend AI crap, honest.

Watching “for all mankind” (great series). But if it only took a few extra minutes of rocket burn to nudge an asteroid in to Mars orbit not along to Earth, surely it only takes a few minutes of rocket burn to do the opposite and fix the problem and send it off to Earth again? Even if they have to wait for right moment.

@cy @BalooUriza Net worth is weird.
Most of the time what matters to me is if I am earning more each month than I have to spend each month. I am lucky, at present I do.
Whether I have a mortgage or not has some impact on the "have to spend each month". But apart from that the fact I own my house does not help. I can't "spend" that (unless I move out).
The fact that, in theory, I own a company worth millions, is no immediate help, and something could happen to change that so easily any day!

@VModifiedMind @thomasfuchs I am concerned over my holiday. I do have good masks. Our "cabin" is a "three bedroom garden villa" that is half the deck with private sun deck and hot tub. That may mitigate some of the risks. That cabin gets you out of "queuing with loads of people in a small space to get off the boat" as well. I am not even doing a commercial flight to get there or back (they are scary, so many people can be ill in a small space). Fingers crossed.

@feld I think that is done by various Ethernet hardware, so they would just be exposing that feature. I don’t think you can do it in software in anyway as it is done using TDR on the pairs.
