@mold@arcana hmm, so basically a piece of software that handles federation, and exposes a simple in/out mechanism for your software to work through? technically it sounds plenty doable
shit on me all you want for being a shill for anything else and a fed for not believing in the true power of fedi, but all these small things add up for me to have this be so fucking annoying
"host your instance", "that's how fedi is supposed to be like" people when you have a real life and you don't dedicate 24/7 of your attention to making sure Akk*ma doesn't collapse in on itself
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Windows, is in fact, GNU/Windows, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Windows. Windows is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another proprietary component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities, and vital system components that operate alongside the Windows API (WinAPI).
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called Windows, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.
There really is a Windows, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Windows is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Windows is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Windows added, or GNU/Windows.
Troubling things going on at Mastodon HQ. They have appointed new board members Biz Stone (co-founder of Twitter) and Amir Ghavi (partner in a blockchain & AI company) 🤮
The Fediverse needs a good alternative to Mastodon. IMHO best option would be Toki, due to the maintainer being cool as fuck and the product being so epic and written in a language that doesn't suck ass.
