Nobody has a child going to school as one gender and returning as another.

Trans people are not attacking women (or anyone else) in bathrooms.

Nobody is going through the hell of transitioning, putting up with the shit people give them etc for 'fun'.

All trans people want to do is just get on with life, doing what they want to do which harms nobody else whatsoever so they don't have to spend an entire lifetime miserable.

The rhetoric to suggest otherwise is 100% bullshit.

Sure there’s a great reason why the code was written such that regardless of length of username you may allow some length can magically skip the password phase.

And these are the companies people sit in the middle doing SSO and MFA with. Or in other words. They’re a bloody vulnerability you’re adding to your stack you thought were helping you with identity and security management.

@neil hah. On 3 in theory 1472 should be fine but I’ve got countless sites where 1352 seems the most that works despite this.

I’ve raised it countless times and they swear I’m wrong.

Supplier: Yeah we did some maintenance which is why X was not working

Me: Why didn't you tell us?

S: It was on our status page

Me: But it was planned, why didn't you tell me in advance like you do other stuff

S: The ones you get sent are from our suppliers, we don't send them for our own stuff

    Me: OK, so could you

S: We post it on status

Me: Sure, but that means I need to endlessly check status

    S: We can't do that

Me: You do it for marketing reasons to us all the time?

@botvolution Which is fine except they’re all doing it now - CoOp, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Tesco etc etc.

…so now without the loyalty card you’ll be robbed by significant amounts.

Pre the new loyalty card scam:

    Item standard price £1

To do an offer it would become 75p

Now… the “loyalty card” offer price is £1

The price without a loyalty card is £1.50

    There is no deal.

All that’s happened is you’ve taken a price rise and the supermarket now makes more money off you both at transaction time and selling and using your data later. Don’t underestimate the value of the latter - they make *millions* from it.

The greatest scam for a while is the new supermarket look at the discounts and deals you get with our loyalty card thing. There’s no deal. There’s no discount. What they mean is “we will charge you even more than the going rate for the items you want unless we can also make significant sums of money from having all your buying data to monetise” #shopping #loyaltycards

Email from Aviva: help us make things better for everyone

Another email: Reminder: Help us make things better for everyone.

Sorry, you’re not just asking me to complete a survey, but repeatedly pestering me to complete some survey I imagine that doesn’t benefit me at all, won’t reduce the insurance price etc

Companies really are taking the piss with the amount of correspondence they send and how little they think your time is worth.

@erincandescent also, if people took a moment to think, there are all kinds of reasons domains can be unavailable to you.

Ask people in the UK who had .eu domain names…

@GossiTheDog bizarre. Wonder why they don’t even try and update and make any effort.

@GossiTheDog Well Cranbrook also moved the source site to a different server since the attack was the origin server so the initial effort (again nothing to do with me, not my responsibility) was to try and just shove CF in front. So I guess the where to attack is also static based on a DNS lookup done some time previous. Presumably they’re still trying to hit the original source IP (Zen)?

I really want to see an end to this push for every old thing to be 'in the Cloud' - your privacy and data is just entirely at risk all the time now because every damn organisation is just throwing your data in random services for any old thing and you have bugger all say over it.

@neil Not directly related, but we were discussing potentially using some FOSS software the other day that has some paid for options - support being one of the benefits, not that we felt we need support. But universally we felt we should buy it because we want to support the people who primarily write it and help make it sustainable. I was quite happy that there was not just a lack of resistance to paying, but an immediate 'we should just' attitude.

@thomasfuchs absolutely fake news. Covid was clearly over ages ago because a politician said so and some newspapers quoted them and everything.

@evan This needs to be based on your phone OS... as my answer varies by OS...

on iOS I use Ivory Beta or Metatext because they're both nice.

on Android, there are ZERO non-terrible clients I use then native mobile web client - I hate that too, but it is far better than any of the android clients which universally suck.
