I watched "Charmed" a lot, but didn't have a particular parasocial relationship with her. I know many people did, especially from Beverly Hills 90210.

She had breast cancer first in 2015, thought it was gone in 2017, then it came back in 2019 and spread to her bones and brain.

Fuck cancer. Fuck breast cancer. My mother had that and I hope it doesn't come back. My dad had a melanoma. I hope that doesn't come back either.

My parents are no youngsters. They're older than both Presidential candidates, but thank goodness they're sharper too. Still, I'm prepared that I cannot keep them forever. It's something I think about from time to time. When their time comes, they've had long and fulfilling lives. Doherty was 53 and that's just not right.

Obviously it is not possible to import another database while libranet.de is running. The processes seem to block each other. I have aborted the import of the venera.social database and will try again later. To do this, however, libranet.de must be put back into maintenance mode.

Normally I'd run this on the command line and use text utils to create a Markdown table ... and then render that and copy and Paste into Excel for formatting. It's a judgement call from case to case which way will have more annoying extra steps.

I had a dirty table with some links by HYPERLINK() and I just wanted to paste it somewhere else in Excel to clean it up and format it.

But if you just copy and paste you get broken formulas when references are relative to stuff you're not copying (the raw data). And if you paste special, values only, the hyperlinks lose their linkiness.

The solution? Paste somewhere not-Excel but still rich text, then copy and paste back to Excel to do formatting. 🤣

The island nation of Curaçao has a name in English and most European languages that looks Portuguese, but the first European colonizers and earliest rererences were Spanish, and the country is currently part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. There is an apocryphal etymology for a Portuguese naming.

The Dutch pronunciation is a mix of French (first half of the name) and Spanish/Portuguese.

In Sweden people generally pronounce the name in French, probably because of the only well-known Swedish song that refers to the country, where the text requires the French pronunciation. There is an alliteration in the text that depends on the name being in French. The alliteration is rather forced, so the author must have assumed the French pronounciation first and written the text to fit it, rather than choosing pronounciation to fit the text.

Let's hope that other countries will follow this design pattern, and all launch a fediverse server at social.[governmentwebsite].[TLD]. Following this pattern makes it immediately clear to people they are communicating with an official government account.

The above list has Switzerland, the Netherlands and Germany, the comments mention France.

The EU no longer has their pilot server running, but the Commission has set up their own, and hopefully other EU institutions will follow.

Lots of constituent states in Germany have set up their own Fediverse servers.

In the year since, have any further national governments set up their own servers?

The Swiss Government has officially launched their Mastodon server at https://social.admin.ch/

In their official press release the Government confirms it is a trial for one year. They state that "Mastodon has several characteristics that make it fundamentally attractive for government communications", such as being beyond the control of others, as well as it being privacy friendly.

I've been wondering if there's a risk to Biden's life from people worried about a Trump win. I didn't consider a martyr the other way around, or that a failed attempt might be enough on that side.

I was a bit disappointed, but not very surprised, that they completely reset what happened in DM3. This franchise is not big on continuity, as the Minions movies showed us.

@lnxw37j1 Yeah, it's her, but she doesn't have many lines. She has more in DM3, but not a whole lot.

Watched DM4 today, it was alright, not a must-see unless you're a completionist.

Will Ferrell is an excellent voice actor, I couldn't figure out that it was him.

I saw Stephen Colbert in the intro credits and listened for him the whole movie, but didn't spot him. The end credits revealed who he played and now I have to look back and see how he did.

She was Mom in DM1 too.

Her dialogue is mostly saying "meh" as kid Gru tries to impress her, IIRC.

We have replaced our laptop keyboards!

-The 2013 MacBook Pro has a working power button again and can start up!

-The Librebooted ThinkPad T440p no longer has a spacebar that sometimes does nothing and sometimes keeps firing. I no longer have to copy and paste the space character to type spaces, and I no longer have to ensure that the video player is out of focus, so that it doesn't keep pausing and playing ten times per second to give us a slow motion video. 🤣

Also the touch pad scroll motion works again, which it didn't when the keyboard was constantly busy.
