   The Swiss Government has officially launched their Mastodon server at https://social.admin.ch/

   In their official press release the Government confirms it is a trial for one year. They state that "Mastodon has several characteristics that make it fundamentally attractive for government communications", such as being beyond the control of others, as well as it being privacy friendly.

     We now have the following national governments with a Mastodon server:

     - Germany: https://social.bund.de
     - The Netherlands: https://social.overheid.nl
     - Switzerland: https://social.admin.ch

     As well as the EU with
     - https://social.network.europa.ec

     Let's hope that other countries will follow this design pattern, and all launch a fediverse server at social.[governmentwebsite].[TLD]. Following this pattern makes it immediately clear to people they are communicating with an official government account.

     This is a hopeful sign of life from governments that is still missing in journalism and other communities that should be much more engaged in building decentralized social networking. They all seem to be waiting for some form of silver bullet social media from big tech, when the solution is already here. But more users will bring more engagement, better apps, and more capital. Which in turn will bring more of the same.

     @fediversereport I would prefer to get important, time sensitive, Gov't info here. There is no "paid verification", no throttling. What other social media would they use? Twitter no longer exists, and every other media but this one can easily be bought by a megalomaniac as well.

     The above list has Switzerland, the Netherlands and Germany, the comments mention France.
     
     The EU no longer has their pilot server running, but the Commission has set up their own, and hopefully other EU institutions will follow.
     
     Lots of constituent states in Germany have set up their own Fediverse servers.
     
     In the year since, have any further national governments set up their own servers?
     
     Is there a wiki, git repo or fedi account that someone has dedicated to keeping track of this specific topic?
