There's a coyote on the couch in the backyard. I got this pic from inside when it had just settled down. Now it's sound asleep. I guess this answers why there have been so many little animal bits in the back yard lately. I vote for this because neighbors are having rat problems.

Getting spicy in North Denver

Halloween "candy or potato" is going really well this year because we got king sized candy bars so the choice is even more difficult.
But it's an institution now, kids are running off "I got another potato can we have hash browns dadddyyyyyyy"

@botvolution I felt the same for years until this came along.

After anodizing it goes in the dye. I'm using somewhat dilute RIT at 80C.

Notes: make sure your supply is robust. This small piece was 5A. This evolves LOTS of bubbles. Use a deep bucket.
This dyed unevenly because the dye stratified. Use a stir bar or aerator.
When I started a Lego was a hard press fit but the lye etch removed a lot more than the anodizing put back on, so now it's a loose fit. Mill it 0.15mm oversized. (Or be very quick in the lye.)

And then it gets boiled to seal the dye in and put to use. This is a stem compression cap for aheadset style bearings.

New adventure: anodizing aluminum. I'm using some Zep product for etching because it says it is all lye. That's a filthy lye: it leaves blue junk on the aluminum. Don't use this. @MLE_online told me to get Red Devil and I wish I had. I'm using sparex #2 (NaHSO4) for sulfation, 25V for 30 min, aluminum cathode, anode, clamp. Pic of it sulfating and right out of the bath.

I had a chance to pick up a very vintage lineman's phone but wasn't quick enough and someone else bought it in the time it took me to walk home and get some $ and walk back.

@whitequark @claralistensprechen5th A local one to me burned when one of their lamination presses went wonky over the weekend, and wowie was that nasty. They ended up demolishing the building despite it not being too badly fire damaged because it stank. (I know the owner and he was mad that the fire dept didn't charge in and put out the fire, but I sure wouldn't. Just looking at photos of the smoke plume nearly gave me mesothelioma.)
